The ‘fake news’ slogan has only been a ‘thing’ since Hilary Clinton’s Democrats invented it as part of their marketing strategy to protect their candidate from criticism in the dying days of the election three months ago. And since many mainstream media outlets – CNN in particular – had stopped even pretending to be presenting unbiased coverage by that point, they started endlessly parroting the expression … facilitating the permeation of the phrase and it’s deliberately vague associations into popular consciousness.
But now the people whom the phrase was invented to undermine have adopted it and they are applying it to the same liberal mainstream media who first embraced it as a weapon in the information wars. And because the mainstream media and their like minded, liberal/’progressive’ audience resent having their own tactics used against them… they’re declaring that a made-up term invented three months ago is “quickly losing meaning”.

The truth is that the term never had any meaning. It is nothing but a propaganda tool designed to instruct liberals on how to contextualize all information that is critical of the Democrats or that is favourable to Trump. And because liberals/’progressives’ are particularly susceptible to propaganda that affirms their biases and relieves them of the trouble of thinking critically and for themselves…. they happily internalised the intended messaging.
Just as with other catch-all expressions invented by the self-anointed enlightened class like “white privilege” and “male privilege”, “fake news” is used by the liberal-Left as a shortcut for making a rational argument or expressing personal insight. It’s as if they take for granted that all the reasoning and evidence traditionally required to consider one’s opinion credible is magically contained within the phrase itself… and its incantation instantly summons wisdom and truth without any further effort required on behalf of the liberal wizard.
This is why liberals who reflexively invoke these phrases always seem stunned when you ask them to justify their claim. They react as if knowing what you’re talking about is some kind of outrageous expectation to place on them.
The short video clip below is an excellent demonstration of this phenomenon. And yes… both of these women are excruciatingly irritating. But notice how the self-identifying ‘liberal’ confidently invokes “fake news” as the explanation for Clinton losing the election… and yet when pressed to support her assertion, she is at a total loss and tries to deflect to another topic.
This is standard operating procedure for the ‘progressive’-Left. These are people who believe things first… and consideration for why they believe it or if what they believe is even remotely true is only ever an issue for them when their opinion is challenged.
And even then they respond to being confronted with the inadequacy of their reasoning with denial, deflection and doubling down on delusion.
